This story was interesting. "Reusable shopping bags" are all the rage right now. Some from China contain lead.
Are China's government insiders intentionally poisoning people in the USA via exports? My "conspiracy spider sense" says "yes".

Lead is one of many choices of compounds used to stabilize plastic and to keep it from breaking down due to UV light depolymerizing things.
The alternatives aren't much safer, but haven't been studied as much. The obvious solution is to NOT eat the bags. 8)
I agree. Don't eat the bags. BPA in canned infant formula cans is a greater crime IMO than lead in bags though.
