I am now forming my own political party. My policies will be very simple and will guarantee me to win every election.

1) I will employ 20% of the population in public sector government jobs. The jobs will involve sitting in a nice office with expensive art on the walls. The work will only consist of shuffling papers. Hours are 10am to 4pm, with 2 hours for lunch and a 1 hour mid-morning break. 60 days holiday a year. All employees will retire at 50 years old with a 10 million pounds pension pot. While employed there will be frequent fact finding trips abroad. No frontline work will be required. Nor will they be required to talk to the public. If any real work needs to be done, a private company can be contracted.

2) 10% of the population will be unemployed and will get generous welfare benefits. They will live in million pounds houses in fashionable areas of London. They will have 2 plasma screen televisions and a games console and laptop computer for each of their children. Each claimant will get 3 holidays a year, fully paid by the government. They will be exempt for all taxes, including council tax. Their television license will be paid up.

3) The remaining 70% of the population will have to pay 60% + taxes (hidden taxes, NI, income tax, council tax, VAT, fuel tax, airport tax...). They will get bugger all from the government except a kick up the backside. Most certainly they will not be allowed to use the health service.

Given 40% of the population does not vote at all, having 20 + 10 = 30% of the votes tied up, gives my party a guaranteed win every time!
