This story is hilarious.

The Pentagon is blaming "foreign financial terrorists" for the economic meltdown. If you believe that insiders colluded to loot the economy, you're a crackpot conspiracy theorist and you shouldn't be taken seriously. Foreign terrorists caused the housing bubble, bust, and recession/depression.

There are no systemic problems that need to be addressed. There is no structural fraud built into the Federal Reserve and the banking system and the economic system. Move along! There's nothing to see here.

Seriously? Who do they think they're fooling? What's more insulting? That someone would fall for such a pathetic lie? That someone would actually have the balls to try it?

Can you imagine that conversation:

Penatgon: I want you to write a paper blaming foreign terrorists for the lousy economy.
Economist: HAHAHAHA!!! Nobody would believe that!
Penatgon: I've got a $5M research grant!
Economist: I blame Al Qaeda and China. How many pages do you want?

"I know! Let's blame foreign terrorists for the housing bubble and bust! That's the ticket!"
