Al Qaeda Fnord

There hasn't been much mainstream media hype regarding Al Qaeda recently. I noticed an interesting fnord in the Al Qaeda story.

The Al Qaeda hype is "There's a massive terrorist organization that's out to get you! Therefore, State bureaucrats need more power."

The Al Qaeda terrorism scare works, because it reflects an underlying hidden truth. There really is a massive terrorist organization that's out to get every American! It's called the Federal government.

The IRS literally is a terrorist organization, combined with the police who blindly obey the orders of IRS bureaucrats and judges. The bureaucrats at the IRS try to spy on all economic activity, making sure that Americans don't work without paying tribute to the State.

Some people pay income taxes due to pro-State brainwashing. Some people pay taxes because they fear that the State terrorist organization will crack down on them if they resist.

Most people aren't direct victims of State violence; State violence is only used against you if you actively seek freedom. They still feel the effects of State violence, as it restricts your choices and opportunities. Most people won't realize that the State is to blame when they're dealing with an abusive boss at work. State restriction of the market is the primary reason you can't say to your abusive boss "**** you!" and start a competing business.

People are affected by State violence, even though they're rarely the direct victim of police. The vast majority of people obey stupid laws without questioning them, making violence usually unnecessary.

People feel a continual sense of low-level terror due to the State, but they aren't able to place the blame where it properly belongs.

The hype of "Al Qaeda is out to get you!" works, because it reflects an underlying truth. There really is a massive criminal conspiracy that's out to get you. It's called the government!

In an anarchistic sense, Al Queda terrorist cells threaten and undermine anarchy. They are in short, agents of chaos. They cause anomy by giving states their reasons for existence and thus create the hobbesian nightmare of man against every man.

War after all, is the health of the state no matter how ernastly Sun Tzu, the author of The Art of War said about how evil and bad war is.

But then again, lot of anti-war commentary in fact comes from the military.
