The Republicans are relatively strong advocates of an individual's right to own a gun; the NRA typically backs the Republicans. The Democrats usually advocate for more gun control.
The Republicans usually are strong opponents of abortion. The Democrats tend to say abortion should be legal.
In a *FREE* market, anyone who wants a gun may buy one. In a *FREE* market, anyone who wants an abortion can get one. Without a government, there's no way to ban people from owning guns or having abortions.
What options does someone who supports personal liberty have? The Republicans are pro-liberty on guns, but pro-State on abortion. The Democrats are pro-State on guns, but pro-liberty on abortion.
This is a very clever fnord. Each party has *SOME* pro-liberty positions and *SOME* pro-State positions. This means that someone who prefers liberty is confused. By dividing up pro-liberty positions between the two parties, there's no voting option for someone to say "I prefer liberty".

From time to time, you mention fnords. I'd like to read more about this in a future post.
