I'm leaning towards choosing Linode as my hosting vendor. Other sources bundle domain registration with hosting, but Linode does not.
Who do you recommend I choose as a domain registrar? They're pretty much all the same, aren't they? I just want a vendor who won't **** me over.

I used Godaddy, but they are pretty spammy and annoying. Their control panel is lame.
I now use Namecheap. I think they are really solid.
You can google for coupons for most of the major registrars like Namecheap, Godaddy et al.

Used them for years w/ no issue.
You don't need to spend $20 a month on hosting.
If you get my $55 a year plan, I'll include a free domain name. But yes, domain names are pretty much the same everywhere, no need to spend more than $8 a year.
1and1.com is cheaper than godaddy and gives free private registration (something you may want FSK)
